EnOcean WiFi Connector (EXT002 and EXT102) Follow
The EnOcean Wi-Fi Connector enables EnOcean devices to send and receive data to and from a Mobius gateway. It is possible to have multiple connectors communicating with a single physical or virtual (cloud) gateway to increase EnOcean coverage.
Each intelligent sensor or connector needs to be authorised to send and receive data from a MobiusFlow instance, and once connected the Sensor Gateway service will create a virtual service representing the connector or intelligent sensor.
The settings need to be set in both the service settings and the intelligent sensor or connector to enable communications.
Connector overview
Power
The connector can be powered from a 5 to 24v DC supply using the supplied power connector or a 5v USB power supply.
Status indicator LEDs
The connector has three status LEDs. From left to right these are RED, GREEN and BLUE. The red LED indicates that the connector has power and the green and blue LEDs have multiple meanings. These are described in the document below.
AP Mode button
This button is used to put the connector into configuration mode and to reset the connector to factory settings.
Configuring the connector
To configure the connector and get it connected to a Mobius gateway you will need:
- A small object such as a paper clip to push the AP Mode button
- A mobile phone, tablet or laptop capable of connecting to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network
Entering configuration mode
- Ensure that the connector is powered and that the red LED is lit
- Using a paper clip or similar object push the AP Mode button to put the connector into configuration mode. The green LED will be ON (not flashing) and the blue LED will be OFF (to exit configuration mode simply remove the power to reboot the device)
- Using your mobile phone, tablet or laptop search for a Wi-Fi network whose SSID starts IA_ and is followed by six characters (this SSID is normally written on the connector label)
- Connect to this network and enter the Wi-Fi network password. The default password is iaconnects but this can be changed in the settings. If you have changed the password and no longer know what it is, see the Factory reset section below
- Using your mobile phone, tablet or laptop open a web browser and enter 192.168.4.1 into the address bar and hit enter or go
- The EnOcean Connector configuration page will load into your web browser. Use the buttons displayed to continue
Configure connector
Press the Configure Connector button to connect the connector to your Mobius gateway.
- Select the Wi-Fi the connector should connect to in normal operation (if your Wi-Fi is not listed refresh the web page to rescan networks)
- Enter the password for this Wi-Fi (for security reasons, if you have previously selected a Wi-Fi network and entered a password these will not be displayed and must be re-entered)
- Enter the same SID and PSK that you previously configured in your Mobius gateway Sensor Gateway Service Settings
- Enter the IP address or fully qualified domain name of the Mobius gateway
- Enter the port that you previously configured in your Mobius gateway Sensor Gateway Service Settings (if using an iaconnects virtual gateway please enter 30814 into the Sensor Gateway Service Settings and 30815 into the connector) a physical gateway should be 30815
- You can optionally enter a description and location. This metadata will show in the virtual service on the gateway if entered)
- Push the Save button and reboot the connector for the settings to take effect
Set AP mode password
Press the Set AP Mode Password button to change the AP Mode Wi-Fi password.
- Enter a new password of at least 8 characters long
- Retype the password to verify it
- Push the Save button and reboot the connector for the settings to take effect
- If you forget this password you will need to factory reset the connector
Test EnOcean range
Press the Test EnOcean Range button to view live EnOcean data received by the connector. This is useful when deciding where to install the connectors.
- Either press the learn button on your EnOcean sensor, or wait for it to transmit to see any live EnOcean telegrams (the display only shows the last received telegram)
- The Sensor ID field shows the ID of the sensor which last transmitted
- The Signal Strength value shows the signal strength of the received telegram. -50dBm is a very strong signal and -100dBm is a very weak signal.

Connector operation
Normal operation
When a connector and sensor gateway service have been configured correctly the connector will attempt to connect to the gateway and authorise itself for use. The status LEDs will indicate the following:
Green and Blue alternate flashing | Not ready for operation | No configuration has been set / configuration not valid |
Green only flashing slowly | Not ready for operation | Connector is attempting to connect to Wi-Fi network |
Green solid, Blue flashing | Not ready for operation | Connector has connected to Wi-Fi but has not connected to or authorised with the gateway |
Green flashing fast, Blue solid | Ready for operation | Connector has connected to Wi-Fi and has connected to and authorised with the gateway. In this mode the Blue LED will flash very briefly when an EnOcean telegram arrives |
Factory reset connector
To reset the AP mode password to iaconnects and delete all settings push and hold the AP Mode button for 10 seconds. While holding the button the Blue LED will be OFF and the Green LED will be ON. After 10 seconds the Green LED will turn OFF and the connector will reboot.
Release the AP Mode button when the Green LED turns OFF
